International Edition

International Edition (IE) is the international counterpart of Collectors’ Edition, released on December 10, 1993 outside the US and Canada. Every box contains the same fixed list of cards: opening odds are 100% for every card in the set.

363 cards per boxed set: the complete 302-card set plus 61 extra basic lands, identical in structure to CE.

Production Data & Sheet Logistics

Production: 5,000 sets announced, but only 4,500 were actually produced — Carta Mundi’s ~10% shortage hit the entire gold-border run, not just CE. Of these, 1,000 were diverted to the US market to cover the CE shortfall, leaving 3,500 sets for overseas sale (the figure WotC itself published in 1995). Total cards: 1,633,500.

The 76 basic lands per box follow the same counted split as CE (Plains 14, Island 16, Swamp 15, Mountain 16, Forest 15). IE most plausibly shipped in the same estimated master cases of 10 boxed sets as CE (the 5,000-set order equals exactly 500 such cases), giving 450 whole cases for the 4,500 produced sets.
