Sheet Composition and "Land Invasion"
There were three distinct print sheets: Rare, Uncommon, and Common. However, there was no dedicated sheet for Basic Lands. Instead, the layout scattered lands across the three main sheets to balance the counts—a phenomenon collectors call "land invasion." For instance, the Alpha Rare sheet contained 116 actual rare spells and 5 Island cards [3].
The Packaging Equation
After printing and cutting, the factory collated cards into sealed products. This phase transforms "printed positions" into "distributed cards" following a strict mathematical equation.
