Collectors Edition

Collectors' Edition (CE) is a non-tournament-legal boxed set released on December 10, 1993 for the US and Canada. Unlike the randomized editions, every CE box contains the same fixed list of cards: opening odds are 100% for every card in the set.

363 cards per boxed set: the complete 302-card set plus 61 extra basic lands, with square corners and gold borders on the card backs.

Production Data & Sheet Logistics

Production: 10,000 sets ordered from Carta Mundi, of which exactly 9,000 were delivered — the printer shorted the order by 1,000 sets, as confirmed by Peter Adkison in December 1993. Total cards: 3,267,000.

Each box holds 6 fixed packs whose composition is documented card by card. The 76 basic lands per box split as Plains 14, Island 16, Swamp 15, Mountain 16, Forest 15 — a hierarchy that mirrors the Beta sheet layout (Plains under-printed on the Common sheet, Island present on the Rare sheet). CE most plausibly shipped in dedicated master cases of 10 boxed sets (estimated: the original 10,000-set order equals exactly 1,000 such cases), giving 900 whole cases for the 9,000 delivered sets.
